The Sacrament of Marriage

Celebrating Holy Matrimony at Our Parish
Congratulations on your engagement! We are overjoyed to accompany you as you prepare for the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony. Marriage is a sacred covenant, and we are dedicated to helping you build a strong, Christ-centered foundation for your lifetime commitment together.

 Important Timelines & Eligibility
To ensure ample time for preparation, please review our required milestones before booking a venue:
    • One-Year Notice: Couples must contact the Parish Office at least one year in advance of their desired wedding date.
    • Parish Registration: You must be a registered, active member of our parish for a minimum of six months before a wedding date can be formally scheduled.
    • Sacramental Records: All required sacramental certificates must be presented to the Parish Office before a date can be officially secured on the church calendar.
    • Statewide Policy: Please note that our parish strictly adheres to the unified Common Policy for Marriage for the Province of New Jersey, as agreed upon by the Bishops of New Jersey.

Your Marriage Preparation Journey
Your preparation involves spiritual, practical, and pastoral growth through the following steps:
  • Pastoral Meetings: Couples will participate in four instructional meetings with our parish clergy.
  • FOCCUS Inventory: You will complete the FOCCUS assessment tool, designed to help you and your fiancé discuss the unique strengths and growth areas of your relationship.
  • Pre-Cana Program: Couples are required to attend a Pre-Cana retreat.
Because Holy Matrimony is a sacred Sacrament and a divine institution, the wedding ceremony is fully and thoroughly Catholic.
    • Sacred Music & Customs: To preserve the sacred nature of the liturgy, secular, non-religious, or cultural superstitions and customs are not permitted. This strict standard applies to all wedding music selection as well. Our music ministry will gladly assist you in choosing beautiful, approved liturgical music.
