Respect Life Committee
Respect Life – What does it mean to be “pro-life”? Of course, it means being against abortion, assisted suicide, embryonic stem-cell research, human cloning, and any other practice that is an affront to the dignity of the human person.
But being “pro-life” isn’t mainly being against things; being “pro-life” means being for something. It means loving God’s gift of life, and acting on that love. One of the activities involving Respect life is a Spiritual Adoption Program whereby we can spiritually adopt a baby in danger of abortion. Bishop Fulton Sheen has written a beautiful prayer which could be prayed by those spiritually adopting a baby: “Jesus, Mary and Joseph, I love you very much. I beg you to spare the life of the unborn baby that I have spiritually adopted, who is in danger of abortion”.
Here at St. Aloysius Parish, we conduct our Spiritual Adoption Program after one of the weekend Masses in April. At this time you will have the opportunity to spiritually adopt a little girl or boy, write their name (that you give them!) on a pink or blue card and hang it on our “Tree of Life”. This tree is then kept in our Gathering Space.
Later in May, we have a Baby Shower where you can bring baby items (diapers, wipes, powder, onesies, socks, blankets, etc.) which will be donated to Madonna House in Neptune to be given to new mothers in need.
More information regarding these programs will be announced in our parish bulletin.
